Do you call your place home, or is it just a house? A house is a structure you live in that provides your basic needs and safety. Your home is where, you go to relax sleep, entertain and get away from the stress of work and life. Does that sound like the way you feel about your home? If not, tag along with me...
Let's look at some of the things we tend to overlook when decoratiing and setting up our place — things that create your personal santuray, that make you feel easy and free that anyone can find.
Letting Go: It is feasible to focus on decor, design, picking the right furniture to reflect your own character and interests that can turn your house into a stress free zone. How about taking a fast breather and switching gears for a sec and never allowing that stress to enter your house? Put some trust into your own abilities to simply enjoy your home and it will happen. Try cherishing your home in all its different quirky stages. Your soul will understand and feel your intentions.
Make It Your Sanctuary: Do you have a favorite stress free zome in your mind you can visit? Somewhere you can go to clear your head once in awhile? I feel that way whenever I step into a coffee shop — I seem to enter my own little world. Waht if you could make that place your own house. How are you going to make that happen for you? Maybe try taking a few deep breaths before you open the door, or leaving all the negativity outside on the front steps. What can you do to eliminate stress and take worry out from your home, and create a peaceful happy place?
Spend More time At Home: This might sound obvious, right? But it's not all that easy. Do you actually spend time at home enjoying the fact that it is your home? Caould you spend more time appreciating it? Or will you be out every chance you get? Your home can grow on you just like anything else in life. Even if it isn't your ideal space, you can begin to appreciate it and make it function for you if you take the right attitude when there.
Share It: Will you share your house with other people you love? Are friends over often for lunch or a movie? Or do you infrequently invite guests over because your home isn't perfect? If there is more laughter and emotion in your home it will become exactly that, your home.
Make Memories: The last tip mentioned emotion and laughter. Should you fill your home with people and laughter, you will be making memories along the way. Filling your house with memories will quickly turn it from just a dwelling into a warmn comfortable home.
Memories of the fixtures, doors, countertops and windows will fade over time, but you will remember the birthday celebration where your best friend baked their first three layer cake and then the puppy that promptly knocked it off the table resulting in impromptu ice cream cookie sandwiches and candles stuck in them.
It is times like these that make the memories we love and look back on with fondness. Take some time every so often to plan little things like this, things that make your house a home. You will cherish some of those times later in life and look back on your home with fond memories.
